, tyson center just opened at 6:00 this morning. most of the stores are still closed. macy's is open. it has been open for 24 hours since the weekend. i better head over there. wait a minute, i have to finish here first. other stores will open at 8:00 and the rest at 10:00 this morning. a lot of the stores are offering great deals. we have seen deals throughout the mall, 50, 60% off. some buy one get one. there are deep discounts as the stores make up for a weak holiday season. stores got off to a weak start. sales could surpass black friday. half of all consumers still had shopping to do. a number of stores are extending hours staying open around the clock. some are open late tonight to drum up business. so far sales have been disappointing. analysts say the number of shoppers over the weekend was on par with last year. they seem to be spending less. shopper track, a retail tracking firm downgraded its holiday forecast on friday. it had projected sales to grow 3.3% but dropped it to 2 1/2 percent now. analysts say the weak economy and worries about job growth are likely to blame for
for their lives. witnesses said the gunman started firing outside of macy's in the food court. one said the gunman practically announced himself with the chilling words, i am the shooter, before he began shooting at random. a series of rapid shots were fired as christmas music played in the background. horrified shoppers leaving scene with their hands up. you can see some of that there as they were escorted out. eerily reminiscent of the tragedy at column bind high school. remember we saw the kids escorted out. one witness said the shooter was warying a bulletproof vest and always protect themselves and carrying a ar-15 rifle. the gun jammed possibly preventing a bigger tragedy. afterwards survivors detailed the horror. >> my friend was on the ground crawling toward the doors. i hear two more shots i jump oned ground and crawl towards the doors. i heard the guy yell, get on the ground, get on the froind a couple times. i got up and started running. >> as soon i heard i thought it was a drill. i didn't think it was real at first. and then as soon as i heard more shots happen, i knew at that point w

an ar 15 rifle which authorities say had a full magazine on the mall floor there just outside a macy's store and that leads them to believe that the gun had jammed. whether they have been able to examine that gun or not remains to be seen seen. but if the gunman himself is down it's certainly a possibility. witnesses report seeing two people on the ground not moving with sheets over their entire bodies which has led to local reports of two people killed there. >> could one of them be the gunman? certainly. could there be more gunman on scene thorlts have not told us that you yet. they are searching the mall. they say they can't be sure yet. so this clackamas center mall is still very much an active crime scene on what appears to be a rainy late afternoon. this happened 3:30 p.m. local time in portland as the authorities got their first calling of shots fired. originally it was 12 to 15 shots. now, witnesses by the dozen talk of the number 60 and authorities seem to be going with that bub well. dan springer is on the line with us now. dan, what do you know? >> i'm stuck in traffic it'
